Paris Regional Medical Center (PRMC) has a robust Disaster (Emergency) Management Program providing for response to disasters and large-scale emergency events. The all-hazard response plans address six critical areas as described by the Joint Commission:
- Communication
- Resources and Assets
- Safety and Security
- Staff Roles and Responsibilities
- Utilities Management
- Patient Clinical and Support Activities
Paris Regional Medical Center is a member of the Northeast Texas Regional Advisory Council (NETRAC) healthcare coalition. Collaboratively, the partnership facilities recognized that their substantial and complementary strengths provide a unique opportunity to create a plan providing emergency preparedness resources that would be difficult for the partners to provide independently. With strategic planning initiatives for sharing medical equipment, supplies, and personnel in place, the rapid and successful movement of critical resources in times of crisis ensure the healthcare community is self-sustainable for at least 96 hours.
Paris Regional Medical Center continually works to:
- Identify issues and challenges that may confront our region in the event of a disaster.
- Assemble resources that can be used to aid PRMC and other healthcare organizations across the Red River Valley in the event of a disaster.
- Maintain policies and procedures for mutual assistance and support that shall enable the continued or expanded treatment and services to the community.
Emergency preparedness is very important to Paris Regional Medical Center. We continuously work towards creating the safest environment possible for our patients, visitors, and staff members.
Paris Regional Medical Center supports the hospital’s readiness and response to disaster related events by implementing the four phases of emergency management:
- Mitigation
- Preparedness
- Response, and
- Recovery
PRMC Disaster Management annually reviews its all-hazard emergency response plans. The planning process uses a risk based hazard vulnerability analysis and research. The Emergency Management Coordinator then collaborates with local, state, and federal entities to ensure our plans are in alignment with community response.
Whether disasters are natural or man-made, or even acts of terrorism, being prepared is the best way to protect you and your family. Creating a personal family plan is a short and simple activity that will help to minimize the impact of unexpected disasters or emergencies.
